Turmoil on the Rio Grande
While browsing the Fall/Winter catalogs, I came across a little something for the Trans-Mississippi Civil War crowd. ASU grad student William Kiser will be publishing Turmoil on the Rio Grande: History of the Mesilla Valley, 1846-1865
with TAMU Press. According to a news clip from the school it "covers such topics as the Battle of Brazito (Mexican War); Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo; Gadsden Purchase; Apache Wars (antebellum); Confederate Invasion of New Mexico; Confederate Territory of Arizona; and Martial Law in southern N.M." The piece relates the author's description of the book as "essentially a military and political history of southern New Mexico." I look forward to it.
